Edge Protection Scaffolding West Bromwich

Glencross Scaffolding supplied and installed a comprehensive edge-protection system for a commercial building in West Bromwich. The scaffolding was designed to provide safe, compliant access for roof maintenance works being carried out by contractors on the property’s flat-roof structure.

Our team erected a free-standing guardrail system across the full perimeter of the roof, using weighted base supports to avoid penetrating the waterproof membrane. This approach ensured complete safety for operatives while preserving the integrity of the roofing surface — an important consideration on occupied commercial premises.

The project included careful planning to ensure stability around varying roof levels and parapet details. With multiple trades working simultaneously, clear communication and sequencing were essential. The Glencross team coordinated closely with site management to ensure that all works progressed safely and efficiently, with no disruption to businesses or tenants operating below.

The installation also incorporated high-visibility toeboards and mesh infills at exposed areas, providing enhanced protection for both workers and the public. Once maintenance works were complete, the edge-protection system was dismantled quickly and safely, leaving the roof fully accessible for future inspection.
