Solar Installation Scaffolding Raw Petfood Limited
Glencross Scaffolding was recently contracted to provide solar installation scaffolding Raw Petfood limited, supporting solar panel installation on a terraced property in Yardley, Birmingham. This project forms part of the wider transition toward renewable energy solutions within residential settings and saw our team once again deliver safe, secure and site-specific access to a challenging rooftop space.
Our client required temporary access to the property’s pitched roof to facilitate the fitting of solar PV panels. Given the nature of the installation and the layout of the terrace, we were tasked with creating a scaffolding structure that would allow engineers safe, direct access to the roofline while also enabling the smooth hoisting of heavy equipment and solar panels. With limited space in a dense residential area, the project demanded careful planning and an intelligent approach to scaffold design.
Following a detailed site assessment, our team designed a solution that included full-width scaffolding across the front elevation of the property, complete with guard rails, toe boards and access platforms at the appropriate working heights. A secure ladder tower was integrated to ensure safe vertical access for workers throughout the day. We also installed a Gin Wheel system to allow the solar installation team to winch panels and heavy kit directly to the working level, minimising risk and manual lifting.
Safety remained our top priority throughout. We used reinforced anchor points and internal bracing to provide structural integrity, particularly important given the confined working area and the need to avoid impacting neighbouring properties. Protective measures such as brightly coloured padding on uprights and prominent signage helped ensure visibility and awareness for both workers and the public.
The installation team were able to complete their work efficiently thanks to the practical and reliable scaffolding access we provided. The secure platform allowed for quick and confident movement across the roofline, while the integrated hoist system significantly reduced installation time.
Despite the tight space and limited access around the property, our team completed the scaffold erection quickly and with minimal disruption to residents. Communication with the homeowner and neighbouring properties was prioritised, ensuring everyone remained informed throughout the project.
Upon completion of the solar panel installation, our team returned to dismantle the scaffold structure, leaving the site exactly as we found it. We ensured the front of the property was clean, tidy and free from any debris or material traces, aligning with our high standards for end-of-project presentation.
This project in Yardley showcases Glencross Scaffolding’s ability to adapt our service to suit the needs of modern, sustainable energy installations. Our partnership with Raw Petfoods Limited demonstrates our versatility in working with commercial and residential clients alike, and our continued commitment to safety, efficiency, and professionalism in every job we undertake.
As more homes across Birmingham embrace green technologies, Glencross Scaffolding remains at the forefront of providing safe, smart access solutions that support the transition to a more sustainable future.
